Dr.Rod Maxwell and Steve are amazing with both my kids! I have been taking my kids to be seen by him since they both were 2 weeks old. She is 8 and my son is 4! He truly cares about his patients and always goes above and beyond for them!
Dr. Hoki completed a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology at the University of Florida and a Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He stayed in Gainesville, FL for his pediatric residency at UF Health Shands Hospital. Following residency, he moved to Utah where he completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Primary Children’s Medical Center. He joined Wee Care in 2011.
One of the reasons Dr. Hoki was drawn to pediatrics is because he’s a child at heart. He admires children’s humorous honesty, wonderment, and love of life. What he likes the most about his job is getting to know his patients personally. He advocates for evidence-based practices and preventive medicine that improve the societal health of children, such as vaccines.
Dr Hoki grew up in Florida and first met his wife when they were in elementary school. Many years later, they dated and married. They have nine children. In his free time, Dr. Hoki enjoys activities with his family, including biking with trailer in tow, mountain hiking, building things, sports, video games, cooking outdoors, and playing “magic xylophone” and other made-up games that his children named “Mwuhahaha” and “Sweep the Leg.”
