My Child's 7 Year Visit
Seven Years Old
As your child reaches the seven-year milestone, it’s time to schedule an appointment with their pediatrician to check in on their developmental milestones. This visit is a great opportunity to discuss your child’s overall health with their pediatrician. We’ll cover a range of topics to ensure your child is developmentally on track.
Physical Screening
During the physical screening, your pediatrician will check your child’s height, weight, and blood pressure. They’ll also evaluate your child’s strength and reflexes to ensure they’re growing as expected.
Milestone Assessments
We’ll look at key developmental milestones such as your child’s ability to write short sentences and paragraphs, be aware of other’s feelings, and understand rules apply to different things. We’ll discuss how they’re interacting with peers and becoming more independent.
Academic Progress
The seven-year appointment provides an opportunity for parents to discuss any academic challenges with their child’s pediatrician. We’ll offer resources and guidance on how you can best support your child during their elementary school years.
Sleep
Kids this age should get 9 to 12 hours of sleep each night, improving memory, learning, and concentration. We’ll discuss how much sleep your child gets and provide guidance on ensuring they get the sleep they need.
Nutrition
Healthy eating habits begin at a young age. We’ll discuss the importance of balanced meals and snacks and limiting caffeine and sugar in your child’s diet. We’ll also provide guidance on encouraging regular physical activity.
